Birds Eye Global Tracking Announces Partnership with National Silver Alert to Provide GPS Tracker

Birds Eye Global Tracking, LLC, Clearwater, FL announced today the creation of a partnership with National Silver Alert®, Inc. to provide GPS tracking devices to Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.

Clearwater, FL, December 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Birds Eye Global Tracking, LLC, announced today the creation of a partnership with National Silver Alert®, Inc. to provide GPS tracking devices to Americans living with Alzheimer’s and dementia. The National Silver Alert Program is a free online registration service available to senior citizens and those suffering from cognitive disorders, regardless of age.

“National Silver Alert selected the Birds Eye tracking device because of its quad-band worldwide converge and the fact that it was designed specifically for the needs of our members,” said National Silver Alert (http://www.nationalsilveralert.org) President, Neil Arfmann. National Silver Alert was developed in 2009 to provide vital information to authorities to assist in the search and safe recovery of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive disorders, and quickly reunite them with their loved ones and/or caregivers.

In recent tests, the Bird’s Eye National Silver Alert GPS Tracker was rated #1 for locating children and special needs individuals because of its ability to track both indoors and outdoors with equal precision. This remarkable performance was validated and certified by the AT&T Laboratory in Austin, after several months of intensive testing.

“We’re very proud and excited that National Silver Alert has chosen Birds Eye as the GPS tracker of choice for its thousands of members,” said Birds Eye (http://www.birdseyeglobaltracking.com) President and Founder, Jimmy Bitzas. “By joining forces with National Silver Alert, Birds Eye will now be able to put this life saving device into the hands of more families caring for their loved ones.”

What makes the Birds Eye Tracker perform so well in recent testing is a new technology called GPRS, which combines the GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) system used by the US military and vehicle navigation systems and cell phone tower position plotting. Unlike the vehicle navigation systems commonly used, which require unobstructed line of sight from the satellites looking down at the vehicle, this new GPRS technology can now locate a subject inside a building and other structures. In a recent product test, the Birds Eye “National Silver Alert Tracker” was able to pinpoint the location of a subject on the 30th floor of a high-rise office building, in downtown Tampa.

As with all Birds Eye (http://www.birdseyeglobaltracking.com) GPS tracking systems, the Birds Eye GPRS is designed to work with the firm’s proprietary GPS tracking software, which provides geo-fencing and SOS alert capabilities. Microsoft’s BING ultra-high resolution satellite imagery now allows families to more easily track their loved ones with realistic three-dimensional photo-mapping. With 12-volt DC adaptability, Birds Eye GPS Fleet tracking systems can also be installed using a permanent hardwire connection.

Quad-mode GPRS circuitry gives the Birds Eye Tracker the ability to cover all 4 GSM frequencies, including 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz bands, providing worldwide functionality. A full demonstration of this new worldwide track-anywhere technology is available on Birds Eye’s web site at http://www.tracklovedones.com or call 727-216-6725 for more information.

Twitter Account - SilverAlert

On October 7, 2009, we contacted Timothy Holmgren of Elopement Solutions, L.L.C . / www.missingpatient.com via USPS Certified Mail and asked him to cease and desist in any further use of our trademarked name, Silver Alert®, in association with marketing, sale, distribution, or identification of his products and services.

On October 13, 2009, we contacted Mr. Holmgren again, via email and asked that he refrain from using our trademarked name, Silver Alert® as his Twitter account.

It was our intention to settle this without involving Twitter, until we received Mr. Holmgren’s reply via email on October 29, 2009, which stated the following:

“I’m afraid that you’ll have to speak with Twitter as I feel this doesn’t infringe on any Trademarks.”

We did as requested and contacted Twitter, presented our trademark information, and they deemed that Mr. Holmgren was indeed infringing on our trademark and canceled his Twitter account.

As for the accusations of our company disguising itself as the U.S. Government’s proposed Silver Alert Act, as clearly stated on our website, we have no association with the U.S. Government whatsoever.

Thank you for the opportunity to clear up any misunderstandings you may have regarding this situation.

The National Silver Alert Program

Time is of the essence when individuals with Alzheimer's or other cognitive disorders wander off or become lost.

Approximately 50% of those who wander away may suffer serious injury or death if not found within 24 hours.

The National Silver Alert Program was developed to provide vital information to authorities to assist in the search and safe recovery of these individuals, and quickly reunite them with their loved ones and/or caregivers.

The free, online registration program records vital health, personal, medical and caregiver information, as well as a photograph of each registered individual.

This information is stored in a secure, online database, where it can be accessed by emergency responders via the National Silver Alert call center's toll-free, emergency phone number.

This program is open to ALL senior citizens and individuals with Alzheimer's or other cognitive disorders, regardless of age, who wish to have their vital health, personal, medical and caregiver information readily available in the event of an emergency.

Silver Alert - The Amber Alert for Seniors

Modeled after the Amber Alert, the Silver Alert is an emergency system in which law enforcement can broadcast regional or statewide alerts for missing seniors and/or other adults with Alzheimer's or other cognitive disorders.

A growing number of states are enacting laws that call for the development of the Silver Alert program and some have implemented their own notification systems.

In April, 2008, U.S. Rep. Gus M. Bilirakis (R-FL), introduced legislation that would establish a national grant program to help U.S. States and territories establish Silver Alert notification systems to locate missing individuals suffering from dementia related illnesses.

November is National Alzheimer's Awareness Month

According to the National Institute of Mental Health:

AD affects an estimated 4.5 million Americans.

The number of Americans with AD has more than doubled since 1980.

AD is the most common cause of dementia among people age 65 and older.

Increasing age is the greatest risk factor for Alzheimer’s. In most people with AD, symptoms first appear after age 65. One in 10 individuals over 65 and nearly half of those over 85 are affected. Rare, inherited forms of Alzheimer’s disease can strike individuals as early as their 30s and 40s.

From the time of diagnosis, people with AD survive about half as long as those of similar age without dementia.
